Inverters Explained

The role of an inverter

Solar panels generate direct current (DC) electricity, but homes and the grid run on alternating current (AC). The inverter is what performs that conversion, and it's also where much of your system's monitoring data comes from.

String vs. microinverters

A string inverter converts power from a group of panels together at one central point, while microinverters convert power at each individual panel. Microinverters can offer panel-level monitoring and can reduce the impact of shading on one panel affecting the whole system's output.

The right choice depends on your roof layout, shading, and budget — something we assess during your energy analysis rather than defaulting to one type for every home.
